Goal of the YSI conference
It aims to build them as nation builders by helping them design and implement small projects. In this process they in fact, address many of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) or the Global Goals, adopted by the United Nations in 2015.
YSI - Preconference workshops on Co-creation
The unique feature of the YSI conference, is the Pre-conference where all participants are facilitated with the co-creation workshop, to evolve their innovative project which they can implement in their context, before they can present their reflective practice paper at the conference.
Genesis of the YSI conference
Started in 2018, in reaction to an internal problem of a mobile theft that happened within the college, which disturbed the whole learning community, in spite of having introduced that year the honor code of being committed to honesty & integrity . It also coincided with Gandhiji’s Birth anniversary of 150 years, whose Ideas are synonymous with Satya or truth. Our theme for the first year was Honesty - connecting with self, based on which, we designed an IDEA challenge. Of course, this was a difficult to get a buy in with students or faculties from different colleges.
Since then we are seeing a small but a steady increase in the participants, since we first started the conference
In 2018-19 - where we had 25 students from 8 colleges participated.
2019-20 – 49 students from 12 colleges participate & 12 teachers from diverse teaching background
2020-21 - 52 participants from 19 different colleges.
111 participants had registered for the conference, we had active participants across India. We were happy to see students, faculty members and others participate in this conference amidst this crucial hour of covid-19.
